Conjunctions are for connecting thoughts, actions, and ideas as well as nouns, clauses, and other parts of speech. For example: Mary went to the supermarket and bought oranges. Conjunctions are useful for making lists. For example: We made pancakes, eggs, and coffee for breakfast.
A) Coordinating Conjunction: they join together sentences or clauses that are of equal importance. Some coordinating conjunctions and, but, for, or, still, yet, so, otherwise, nor, neither, either, as well as, etc.
B) Subordinating Conjunctions : they display the relationships of Time or Place. They also show a relationship between two clauses involving a transition of time or place. Some examples of such subordinating conjunctions are once, while, when, whenever, where, wherever, before, and after.
C) Correlative conjunctions are pairs of conjunctions that work together. Some examples are either/or, neither/nor, and not only/but also.
D) An Adversative conjunction expresses opposition or contrast between two statements. Examples are: but, still, yet, whereas, while, nevertheless etc
